Spontaneity

This week we decided to be spontaneous and take a quick trip down to Fruita Colorado to do a bit of mt. biking. Following which I decided to be spontaneous and blog about it. We had a great time, we might have to be spontaneous more often.

The night before our trip Clint decided it was a good idea to drop the oil pan in our car.

It was a night to remember to say the least. A little shout out to the A-team for your help,

we couldn't have gone anywhere without you.

But we made it, and with no oil leaks and the biking did not disappoint.

sorry folks...no pics, but again, it's been months so I thought I would at least give you (or anyone interested) the down low.

2010 so far is rockn', clint and I are both in school at the U of U, 4 weeks in and I'm finally getting movivated. little slow, I know, I feel like I get the worst 'cabin feever' durning spring semester. haven't skiied as much I would have liked at this point, wishing for warm weather, and so sick of SLC's inversion...seriously the air down here is disgusting! but my first test is next week, so motivated I must get.

honestly, I'm super grateful to be in school, learning and so close to being done with my bachelors. I love knowing things, I love meeting new people. I'm so glad I have a husband that fully supports my dreams (no matter how crazy) and cheers me on always.

Clint will have his bachelors the end of this semester...wahoo! he has earned it and then some. he is the hardest worker I know, and no matter what he always gives 110% in everything he does. for his senior project this year he is making a moon-buggy, in April he and his team will fly to Alabama and race it in a national competition that NASA puts on. should be pretty cool, I know they have and will continue to put lots of time into it.

Clint has applied to a few grad. programs, including one at the U of U, so around March/April we should have an idea of where we will be in the not so far future. kind of exciting really, I'm up for whatever is thrown our way.

I am still working at America First Credit Union, they work so great with my school schedule, no late nights and weekends off...it's a good set up for the time being, and more importantly, I'm just grateful to have a job.

Clint is still working at Rocky Mountain Mechanical, it's an engineering firm and he is getting great experience there. Not to mention he has great bosses.

We both still work at Diamond Peak Mountain Sports up in Eden...2 Saturday nights a month. Strictly to feed our skiing and biking habits :) but we love the people and love talking to customers about the sports and gear we love.

Just a couple of weeks ago Dan, my little bro., tied the knot with a girl from Salt Lake, Kelsie. We really love her and are excited to have her as part of the family!

That's about it, holidays were fabulous, lots of family, friends and much needed relaxation.

Ok, so one more post I didn't get to last night. Yesterday between conference sessions we headed out for one more ski. Cold? Very. Worth it? Oh SO worth it. Skiing is our favorite thing to do, mt. biking is a close second, but on the days I get to water ski are THE best days. Yesterday it was so cold that we decided to pull out the dry suit. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit me...it's a large. I was determined to ski and had been looking forward to it all week, so my rash guard was just going to have to do. Three of us skiied, Clint, Nate Hastings and me...the only girl, and the only one who braved the cold water without the dry suit. I'm pretty sure that calls for some serious bragging....don't you think?!

Girls night at Union Grill

Tonight was the priestood session and while the boys were gone the girls headed to Union Grill for some killer pasta and bread pudding. Haven't been there for ever, I had forgotten how much I love that place. My Grandma Judy, Aunt Michelle and her two girls Morgan and Ellie were down for a quick visit while Morgan looked into the Art Institute of Salt Lake City for culinary school. It was good to see them again. Twice in one year too...that never happens!

Kings Peak

The boys headed to Kings Peak for three days. Back packed in, hiked up, and packed out. They were really crunched for time so the hike from base camp to the peak that usually takes most of the day they did in 5 1/2 hours. Finished in record time! Not going to lie, I was pretty jealous I wasn't invited, I have never been back packing and really want to go. Now that the waters have been tested on this hike I think it is a must for me next summer! 40 lb pack...no problem!

REAL soccer game

When Clint was off back packing to Kings Peak with his Dad and Bro's I was enjoying a killer REAL soccer game in SLC with my family and bro's girl friend. This was the best REAL game I have ever been to. First half, REAL down by one. Final score, REAL 2 away team 1. The scoring was awesome, the new stadium is amazing and the crowd was out of control. The post game fireworks also rocked, but I have decided watching fireworks without my man just isn't that fun.

Moscow Idaho-Grandparents 50th Anniversary

My Grandparents 50th Anniversary was this summer....wahoo to them! We went up to visit for a few days to celebrate. Our weekend involved games, our attempt at family pictures (which I think turned out pretty good), and another of my favorite places...Coeur d'Alene Lake. My uncle has a cabin on the lake, the view is amazing! Love this lake, to bad the weather was as cold as it's been all summer when we were up there!

Wasatch Crest Trail

Another favorite is this amazing trail...the Wasatch Crest. Killer terrain, lots of smooth single track and really amazing views and scenery. Highly recommended! We actually just did this ride for the second time last week and the leaves were so beautiful! But alas, we forgot the camera....what's new!

Lake Powell 2009

This is our favorite place on the planet, best vacation destination...lake powell. It's a shame we don't make it down more often. Just wanted to give a huge thanks to Mama and Papa Child for yet another fantastic trip to powell!

For one of my classes this semester I had to start a blog on any subject of my choice. I decided to do a health/exercise blog because that is my major so why not! It's pretty basic and right now nothing spectacular by any means. Boston

Boston.

The ferry we took to see the USS Constitution. (part of the freedom trail, basically a history line that takes you through to city ending at Boston Harbor)

MIT, the reason we went to Boston. We took a tour of MIT to give Clint an idea of as far as grad. school goes. Super cool, campus runs right along the Charles River.

Stata building on MIT campus. They call this the Dr. Seuss building, it's huge.

The dome building on MIT campus. This is where most of the 'hacks' are done. (hacking=pranks, MIT started 'hacking' before it ever became a computer term) One of the best hacks was a group of MIT students took an MIT police car apart, somehow got it on top of this dome and then rebuilt it...all in one night. If you watch any news, the Hubble telescope has been a big deal lately with it's last launch and everything. A week and a half ago students built a replica of the Hubble and put it on top of the dome. Other years it has been covered in black with cut outs of eyes and a mouth. Kinda cool, even cooler that the school encourages students to do hacks. ( as long as it doesn't hurt property or people)

Mt. Aubourn Cemetery-Cambridge

Mt. Aubourn Cemetery, a.k.a the most beautiful place I have ever been. This place was so gorgeous! I could have walked through here and taken pictures all day long. The pictures don't quite do it justice, but you get the idea. It was incredibly green and there were so many different trees, flowers, bushes, grasses etc. The first pic. is of us in front of a really old church really close to the cemetery entrance.

Sailing the Charles River

Sailing the Charles. We stayed with our good friends Christopher and Megan while we were in Boston. Christopher is going to MIT and majoring in economics. MIT has their own sailing pavilion and it's all covered by student fees...awesome!?! I had never been sailing before and I would love to do more of it in the future. Clint and I are big water skiers, so in the past we have been all about the glassy, windless water. Now, I'm totally ok with wind or no wind...both are equally amazing. Recommendation: don't sail in a skirt.

Red Sox

First major league game and we can't wait to go back. Neither Clint nor I have ever been big baseball fans but I think this one game has changed us. The energy, people, the field and players made the atmosphere so fun. Another bonus...my fenway frank was free. We were sitting in the middle of a row, boys are walking up and down the stadium isles the whole game selling franks, popcorn, drinks, anything you could want at a baseball game. I stopped a kid and wanted a hot dog, they were like 4 bucks each. So I passed him a 5 dollar bill and he passed me my dog. My change wasn't coming back and I really didn't care, it was only a dollar. Then randomly I get handed 5 gold coins...my five dollars came back in a new form. Everyone just looked at me and said...we have no idea what happened, but he said that this was your change. By the time I got the change he was long gone and I was chowing down...holla! So I bought myself a lemondade slush...delish. So, GO Red Sox!!! I will be cheering you on from here on out.

Cape Cod & the Lobster Pot

We took a day trip to the Cape, it wasn't the warmest day but it was gorgeous and still so fun. There is just something about being on the beach and hearing the waves crash into the sand.... That night we ate dinner in Province Town (Ptown...craziest town I have ever been to, but that is a story for another time) at the Lobster Pot. We ate on the second floor right by windows that over looked that harbor, loved it! I had crab legs and Clint got Lobster and both were killer.

Boston-whale watching

We went whale watching while in Boston. Wasn't sure if we would really get a good show...lucky for us, it rocked! We saw at least 20 different whales. They migrate to this area from Bermuda during April and stay until October. 26 miles off the coast there is a plateau 600 ft. under water. It is just shallow enough that lots of plants can grow there attracting fish. The plateau is 26 miles long and 2 miles wide. Over 11,000 thousand whales migrate here for summer feeding and during this time they will gain between 10,000 and 12,000 pounds...that is an insane amount of weight!! I was totally stoked about this, I have always been fascinated with whales and seeing them in the wild was amazing.

Bike Trail

This was one of Clints' Saturday projects, the teeter totter. He has decided to build a mt. bike trail behind his parents house, with jumps, banks, wood trails, bridges etc. This was one of the first creations. Those of you that are into mt. biking will appreciate how cool this really is. Him and his bro's had a ton of fun building and experimenting with this. Can't wait to see how the final trail turns out.

for the past 2 semesters clint has been working on his 3rd year mechanical engineering project...this the the famous robot. it has spent more time with clint than i have by a long shot. i can't even remember how many late...really late...nights he has had with the robot and homework. he is a genius and even though this blue box with wires might not look like much, let me tell you it really is amazing!

the team. jeff, jeremy, dan and clint. this isn't a very good pic of them, but these guys are awesome. there were many nights that i would take them up pizza for dinner and they are hilarious!

the competition. there were 36 teams that made robots. two robots would compete against each other, one on each side of the grid. the robot had to be programed to follow the black lines, turn corners to go in between the isles and then had to pick up one of three crates. the robot had to be able to sense what was in the crates in order to pick them up. one had a magnet, and the other two had other electrical things. this is so much harder to explain than i thought...the comp. was super cool to watch. clints robot was in the top seven, he did awesome and i'm so proud of all his hard work.

my first triathlon

i did the 4th street tri a couple of weeks ago. it was awesome...for the most part...and i will definitely being doing more tri's. i have been taking a triathlon class at the u of u for the past 8 months. my trainers were awesome! summer and lane, they rock. they are crazy hard core and both do iron man's...not sure i will ever do an iron man tri, but they are my inspiration. if you get the chance and have the drive to do a tri, do it you will have no regrets!
fyi: i should have started this post with the swim and ended with the run...but i was to lazy to switch it.

that's my new bike...it's my most favorite thing ever. not so much on this ride though...
i got a hole in my tire, not just once, but twice...never happens, but it did today because i wanted to be fast and do good. hilarious really, still can't believe it happened. one guy that passed me while i was checking out my tire was so nice, offered to stop and help multiple times, i told him to keep going. only one of us needs to end up with a slow time on the bike...i'm totally cool with taking it!

in between the bike and the swim. putting clothes on when you are dripping wet is harder than i thought it would be.

the one in the orange is me. at this point in the swim i felt like i had swallowed half of the pool! i have no idea what happened but i went to take in a breath and got a mouth full of water. you know when you swallow and it goes down the wrong tube...that was me, coughing and everything. it went like this...take a breath in, cough my guts out while my head was in the water, take a breath in, cough my guts out while my head was face first in the water....repeated 100 time...at least that's what it felt like. haha, it was awesome!

IT'S ALMOST BEEN A YEAR

I looked at our blog the other day and realized it has almost been a year since I have posted anything about our lives....whoa. I'm at work and have no pictures with me but I have found new motivation to get an update going.

As of lately....Clint applies for his master in a week and if everything goes as planned he will graduate Spring of 2011. I am currently working on a bachelors in Exercise Science and should graduate Fall of 2010, possibly Spring of 2011. The end is in site....ya!

We just got back from a 4 day trip to st. george. It was warm and we biked our guts out. It was a blast and we are sad to be home.

My little bro. Aaron leaves on his mission to Brazil next Tuesday. Growing up is so fun and so weird at the same time. I still can't believe he is old enough to go.

Froerer Fam FHE

For the last maybe eight nine years every first sunday of the month the Froerer Fam has gotten together with all of the cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents for FHE. Each month a different family is incharge we usually head to their house as they are in charge of the lesson, dinner or desert or whatever they decide. It's way fun and I have so many memories with my extended family. Everything is slowy changing, older counsins have gotten married and moved away, brothers are on missions and things get so busy. They group is sometimes smaller than in he past, but the tradition lives on. I hope I can be as proactive as my own family has been so that my kids will have experiences and memories that I hold so dear.

Yes we are alive and doing very well. We don't currently have internet, but I promise to keep the posts coming through out the summer. Clint and I are done with school for the summer. Clint was at the U of U and pulled all A's, good job babe, I'm very proud of you! I was at WSU and also got straight A's, it was a great semester for both of us but I'm very happy for a break. We are currently looking for an apartment in Salt Lake...yes we are moving and I'm totally excited about it! Clint needs to get a job or internship in Mech. Engineering, but also needs to be close to school. So U of U here I come!

Easter in Zions

This last Easter we headed to St. George with my fam, the warm weather was much needed. Considering that there was still snow back home. One of the days we were there we headed into Zions. Clint, my bro Aaron and I hiked Angels Landing, it's the best hike ever. Crazy high at parts but I loved it!

Moab

A week after school got out we took a biking trip to Moab with a group of our good friends. This is the second year we have done this and I hope it stays a yearly tradition for us! Although, speaking for myself, I did ten times better than last year! Last year I came home with a basically busted body. Nothing broken, but I had more bruises and cuts etc. than I have ever had in my entire life. I'm proud to say I only fell a couple of times this year and each ride I go on I love biking more and more. Thanks babe for introducing me to such a fun sport! Here is the recap....

Yes, I am now officially 22 years old....I still can't figure out where the time has gone! It was such a good day though. I took the whole weekend off from work, which is always a nice break. That morning Clint made me breakfast in bed, we open presents and decorated out Christmas tree. Then we headed down to Salt Lake. We went to the SLC temple and did a live session, very cool, loved it. Our friends met up with us after that and we ate dinner at The Gardens and walked around Temple Sqare. The new snow made everything so beautiful. Sunday we went to my parents and they made the best steak and potato dinner with cake and ice cream for dessert. It's all over now and a year away, but December 1 will come again!

This is a shout-out to my little bro. who is currently serving a mission in Bogata Columbia! His birthday is September 11 and he isn't a teenager anymore...big 20 here we come! And no worries bro. you won't have to hear about 9/11 this year being out of the country and all :) We have so many good memories together and I will forever consider him one of my best friends. Remember the London/Scotland trip...loved it, want to go back so bad! The late night talks with Dad, good times. Driving to good old Weber High together and being late everyother day because I just could not wake up on time. Double dates with Clint and Jed...and eventually Kelli. Talking about your main woman (Tayler, miss her) until all hours of the night. Labor Day get-away

This last weekend we packed up the car and headed to good old Bear Lake. Clint's fam. had rented a house that slept like 20 people...crazy! It was really fun, playing games with the cousins, hittn' up Pickleville Playhouse, skiing, playing on the waverunners, and my new favorite, rope swinging at Lake Bloomington. If you haven't been there it's like a 45 min drive from the Pickleville Playhouse. You head up a curvey dirt road up through the mountains, it's a breath taking drive I must say. But the lake itself is even better! It's completely clear, you can see the bottom of the lake where ever you stand. It's a glacier fed lake, and normally there is still snow and ice on one of it's rocky sides. But since it has been such a hot summer there was no ice to be found. We were really surprised! Whoever put in the rope swing, genius. It's a blast, if you get the chance, go!

For the last few weeks I have been so envious of a few of my dear friends when they chopped and sported a new dew. I hate to be the one who follows the crowd, but the whole 'grow my hair out long' just wasn't making the cut!

On my trip to the salon my intentions were a trim and color change. I kept telling my self I wanted long hair....what do I really know? Looking in the mirror at my drab due I knew it had to go. And it went! And I love the short hair! Just walking out of the salon I felt like a new person with enough confidence to conquer the world. Thanks Cass for fixn' me up!

Longboarding Fools...

We have a longboard! Clint and I have been longboarding several times with different friends, but just recently got one of our own. Thanks to our good friend Jared Rawlings, who designed and made our longboard. He does an awesome job and is working on getting a website set up so the whole world can see his boards. 'Verano' is the name, meaning summer, it totally rocks!

Last night we had an FHE with our marrieds ward. We had Olympics night and our team wore bandanas. We looked pretty fearsome if I do say so my self. After that we went with our friends Heather and Jordan Avner to hit the hills up for some good longboarding. WSU is a great place to go, we pretty much stayed on these two grass rollers. Pick up speed on the cement and once you hit the grass lean back because you are in for a ride! A few grass stains never hurt anyone anyways!

From Lake Powell to Bear Lake...

It took two trips, but between water skiing and wake boarding reading suddenly became one of my priorities. Dan Brown keeps you intrigued and interested from the very first page. The prequel to the Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons is sure to keep your attention until the very end!

I loved it and couldn't put it down! Robert Langdon takes you on a ride as he gets dragged along on an adventure he wasn't looking for. Yes, it took two weeks, but balancing being in the water (which I love) and reading this book became quite the task! Clint and I read it together on our fun filled vacations and would recommend this 700 page book to anyone who is in for a little suspense!
